Biometric Recognition

Our research on (Computer) Biometrics in GAVAB is mainly focused on both recognition and verification problems. We have worked using some of the following biometric patterns (modalities): 2D and 3D facial images, handwritten signatures, ear images and gait analysis.

Aim

Biometrics refers to identifying or ensuring the identity of an individual based on some of his/her physiological or behavioral characteristics. Physiological biometrics are physical characteristics measured at some point in time. Examples include fingerprints, hand geometry, face images, iris and retina patterns, lip motion, etc. Behavorial biometrics consist of the way some action is carried out and extend over time. Examples include handwriting signature, acoustic features of voice, gait, keystroke dynamics, and so on.
